Music Venues in Glasgow

Music Venues in Glasgow

Glasgow has a truly amazing music scene, labelled by many as one of the UK's top musical cities having produced some of the best bands the nation has seen over the last 10 years! Here at Piano Lessons Glasgow, we are passionate about encouraging our students to go and see as much live music as possible. Whether that is rock bands trying to emulate Oasis's success at the King Tut's Wah Wah Hut or watching a classical performance at the Glasgow SECC watching live music really helps you develop your understanding of how to perform your instrument! There is more to playing live than just hitting the piano keys! To help you decide which local music venue is for you we have drawn together a list of what we consider to be the top music venues Glasgow has to offer! In no order...

King Tut's Wah Wah Hut is one of the UK's most precious underground music venues with a rich history that makes it almost unbeatable! Having seen the likes of Radiohead, The Killers, Pulp, Paramore, Coldplay, Florence & The Machine, Biffy Clyro, The Strokes, Manic Street Preachers, and Oasis rock audiences in the 300 capacity with the later having famously been signed in the venue by Alan McGee after Liam and Noel Gallagher bullied their way onstage! Located at 272a Saint Vincent Street, G2 5RL, the venue has won multiple awards including the NME naming the King Tut’s ‘Britain’s Best Small Venue’ in 2011, and ‘quite possibly the finest small venue in the world’ in 2007!

O2 Academy Glasgow has seen some epic gigs over the years with the likes of Motörhead, Band of Horses, Feeder, Matchbox Twenty, Ben Howard, Ellie Golding, Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines and Bloc Party to name but a few of the bands to rock local audiences! Refurbished in 2003 the 2,500 capacity venue located at 121 Eglinton Street, G5 9NT, famously saw The Killers gig in 2006 sell out in just 3 minutes! The O2 Academy also regularly sees the UK's best comedians perform, including Russel Brand, Jimmy Car and record holding performer with 14 shows Frankie Boyle! It should be the aim for all local bands to perform at the O2 Academy - great venue, a must-see for all local music fans!

Queen Margaret Union is another fantastic local music venue that all up and coming Glaswegian bands should be looking to gig at! Perfect for building up a strong local audience of university students the venue has seen the likes of Yellowcard, Lower Than Atlantis, The Fratellis, First Aid Kit and Passion Pit rock audiences - you should be knocking the unions' door down to get a gig supporting some of these great bands! Located on the University of Glasgow, 22 University Gardens, G12 8QN keep your eye on the gig listings - awesome bands guaranteed!

Nice 'n' Sleazy located at 421 Sauchiehall Street, G2 3LG, right in the heart of Glasgow's city centre. Always outliving its name Nice 'n' Sleazy is a fantastic no nonsense club and music venue that is perfect for up and coming bands to gig at! Showcasing the very latest in new music in Glasgow Nice 'n' Sleazy is your first port of call if you want to see who will be Scotland's biggest bands in three years time! Classic music venue & another must for all local fans!

SECC Glasgow is a massive 10,000+ music venue that has seen some of the biggest bands in the world come and rock local audiences! The likes of the Killers, Muse, Mumford & Sons and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have performed the SECC really is our top music venue and somewhere all local bands should aim for one day! I offer piano lessons for students learning classical or contemporary piano styles. I work hard to incorporate the composers and music preferences of my students into our lesson content. So whether it is Coldplay or Chopin I have the piano lessons for you!

I welcome beginners, intermediate and more advanced students to attend lessons with me. I have helped many beginners over the years, with young learners and adults rapidly progressing on the piano.
