Frequently Asked Questions

Do you teach beginners?

Absolutely, most of my students have never played piano before their first lesson! We will have you playing in no time, don't worry!

Where are you located?

I teach the majority of my piano lessons in Glasgow from my home studio, located on Duke Wynd, G4 0WX, Glasgow. Click on the map below to find my location on Google maps! The studio is the perfect place to learn to play piano, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere and great piano as well.

I can also teach piano at your house providing that you have the equipment and live within Glasgow's city boundaries. For more information simply get in touch.

Do you teach children?

Yes! I have taught my children to learn to play the piano, it is great for developing young peoples musicallity and getting them excited by music! I tutor children from the age of 5 upwards, with lessons for young people working best as half hour lessons each week. You are more than welcome to join us during the piano lesson if you wish to sit in!

Is it still fine if I do not want to take exams?

Absolutely! Music is for everyone to enjoy, you certainly don't have to take exams if you don't want to. Examinations are often a motivational factor to keep achieving higher levels but it is totally fantastic if you wish to play piano for leisure.

What songs will we learn?

It is completely up to you! Whatever style of piano music you like, classical, modern or jazz, as well as anything in between, we will cover it! My piano lessons are all about empowering my students to play the music they love, whether that is Coldplay or Chopin.

Do I need anything before I start my first lesson?

Not at all, I have all the equipment here that you are more than welcome to use!

Do we need a piano to learn?

If you are a beginner you can start with a keyboard. However if you are at Grade 1 or above it's better to play on a piano to create your correct posture and technique. There are a lot of places in Glasgow that you can go and ask for practicing like music studios, local churches, music shops, University of Glasgow. You will be surprised where you can find a piano to practise on if you wanted to!

Can we arrange group lessons?

Yes, I would be happy to teach pairs of students if you are interested. More than two students within one lesson is often a challenge, individual lessons work best.

Do you give daytime lessons?

Yes, I do - we'll make sure to find the most suitable slot for your lesson.

What happens if I book a lesson but cannot attend?

Please, give me at least 24 hours notice and we can reschedule your lesson. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the arranged time will be charged for.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes, call me for more information!
